The City of Rochester electricity supply program renewed in September 2023. Customers may opt-out at any time during the program without incurring fees or penalties. Customers who opted-out (chose not to participate) before August 9, 2023 were not enrolled in the CCA and will receive standard electricity supply from RG&E at the variable market rate.

NOTE: The 50% Renewable Fixed Rate Option includes 50% electricity supply matched by Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) provided by New York State renewable power plants (hydropower, wind, solar). The remaining 50% is matched by RECs sourced from other U.S. renewable electricity sources. The 50% Renewable Option is not counted as 100% renewable by New York State. Standard supply is a mixture of fossil fuels, nuclear, and some renewable energy.

 
 

Price Stability
Effective September 1, 2021, program participants will pay fixed rates for electricity.3

Participation
All eligible residents and small business electricity customers are automatically enrolled. No action is required. Should you not wish to participate, you may opt out without incurring cancellation fees and penalties. Those who opt out will receive electricity supply from RG&E.4

 
 

1. RGE 12-month trailing average for January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023 as defined by the Public Service Commission.
2. Gross Receipts Tax (GRT) is included in your electricity bill in the City, whether or not you participate in the CCA program. If you are a program participant, the residential or small commercial rate with GRT will appear on your bill.
3. There's no guarantee that the CCA fixed rate will be lower than the monthly variable RG&E rate in any given month or over the life of the program.
4. Time of use customers and those who have selected an alternate supplier will not automatically enrolled.
